Future professional photographers Orlando attend the University of Central Florida to receive either a BA or B.F.A. in studio art with a specialization in photography. Both degrees require extensive studio training and hands-on photography work, as well as a liberal arts classroom education featuring such courses as the history of photography. Nearby Seminole Community College has its own fully accredited university-parallel degree program that can be the perfect launching pad to a four-year college of art or university program.
Job opportunities for photography students fresh out of school look good as well. With government estimates indicating over 1,000 full-time photographers employed in the Orlando area in 2004, and with Florida job growth projections indicating a slight increase (almost 2%) in the number of art-related jobs every year through 2012, employment shouldn't be a problem – and there are always freelance opportunities while you search!
